This article is indeed very humorous and sensible. As a teacher, who has newly got into the profession, this matter regarding students' cleanliness has been wrecking my mind. The same old boring messages, make it even more boring. After seeing this article, I will try to be a bit funny with the students as well. Lets see whether this works.

This article is very well written and it is so true ! I am very addicted to my phone. To be honest I think my whole family is addicted to technology. In fact, one day my sister got her phone taken up at school and she went to At&t the same day and spent almost $300 on a new one ! That is just pathetic ... Maybe I should pose the idea to my family about taking a break from our cell phones for a weekend ... I bet it wouldn't work. Everyone in my house would have a nervous breakdown ! Keep up the good work Panthers Prey :-)

Comment on Irresponsible parents encourage teen drinking by Heather

When I was 17, my mom always told me I was weird because I didn't drink. She made me feel like an outcast because I didn't want to go to parties since I knew what kids my age were doing. She would make me drinks all the time and she made me a drink my sophomore year before prom claiming it would "help ease my nerves". When I got to college and I had been hearing all about how strange I was for hanging out with my friends who didn't drink, I went wild. I drank all the time, and strangely enough my mom liked me more. I got into a lot of trouble, and eventually forced myself to quit, and I met my now husband about six months later. When my mom first met my husband, she tried to get him drunk. When he told her he wasn't interested, that he didn't like it, she got angry and told me she didn't want me to marry him because he was "no fun". It was then that I realized that my mom pushed alcohol in every situation because when she was with her friends and family, they thought it was required to have a good time. My aunt even served it at 11am on mother's day. Whenever I am around them I feel tempted to drink, and it is a weakness I deal with all the time. I am fortunate to have the bad experiences of my freshman year to keep me away from alcohol. It is true that parents who encourage their children to drink, even under the context of "I'd rather have you do it under my supervision" are VERY irresponsible. My younger brother now has a HUGE drinking problem, and it started when he was 16. My parents ignore it, and even encourage him not to visit my husband and I because we're "lame".

Macy,

Thank you for the coverage of This Riot. Your review is both refreshing and accurate on how far the band has come. They guys have worked very hard and just recently started to sound cohesive. Their fan base continues to grow (they actually ended up selling 113 tickets by showtime). I know that Domenic is excited to make an impact in the Bartlett-Memphis area and the support of critics like you is immeasureable. Thank you again for your time and effort.

"Teens get sick of hearing adults go on and on about how hard their lives were growing up. Just because we have advanced technology that crashes from time to time, cell phones that constantly lose service, and cars instead of horses, most adults are convinced that our lives are carefree. However, they could not be more wrong."

- Parents are right, most of what we do is carefree, we don't have any major obligations to attened to, if you look around school you'll find teens texting than anything else.

"So, before parents say that teenagers take everything for granted and that our lives are “easy,” maybe they should try going a day in a teenager’s shoes. It would not take long before they realize what we really have to deal with on a daily basis."

- Well, they already have. They were once teenagers, they went to high school too.

"In a way our lives are not necessarily easier: our lives are just different and a bit more advanced."

- How advanced? I'm sure texting or working on a computer doensn't require much skill.

As soon a student who knows a decent amount of history, the thought of someone requiring you buy what the government has similarities to Socialism. Granted, from a honest perspective, the thought of 'free insurance' does sound nice, but take in mind who is really paying for that. My parents already pay for my own insurance, which already and they stressed, is very expensive not to mention the taxes that they pay for even when this 'system' isn't even activated.

Also, if you look at the most recent and correct me if I'm wrong but Obama has enacted a law that requires students to only recieve finanical aid through the government, therefore making banks irrelevant.

So now you can buy insurance from the government and go to college from the governement, only if you do their 'selected' careers. Socialism?
