Emilio Pucci, Manolo Blahnik, Dolce & Gabbana and Vera Wang are all fashion designers who have been made famous by the celebrities who wear their designs. Each year, as the seasons change, they create new looks that more affordable clothing lines incorporate into their line up. This year, while creating spring fashions, designers did a 360 and took over some of the best trends known to man… literally.
The Boyfriend Look
This trend, which was first made popular in the 1950’s, is still very stylish. Clothing lines such as BCBG took some of the items that guys love to wear and added rhinestones and glitter to make the looks more “girly.” Some of these fashions include blazers, pant suits, and loose fitting jeans with holes in them. Although different, most designers and consumers smile upon this look due to the comfort.
Black and White
Although these colors are not bright and vibrant like most spring colors, clothing lines such as Rampage are making this look a must-have for this season. Most of the clothing will feature these colors in many forms, including stripes, lines, and polka dots.
Platform Shoes
One accessory that is constantly affected by the constant changes made in the fashion world are heels. At one point, it was all about stilettos. Then wedged heels almost took over the world. Now, platforms are here for the spring and summer seasons. Platform heels usually have a 4-6 inch heel with a 1-2 inch raised platform under the front of the shoe. Sure they may look scary and uncomfortable; however, designers brag on the level of comfort that they have.
Animal Prints
It’s a jungle out there–in the fashion world that is. Now, the season has come for anyone who dares to be different or for those who love animals and animal prints. Designers have gone to the jungle and decided to use different animal prints to aid them in creating spring fashions. Therefore, ladies will have the privilege to wear their favorite animal on just about everything.
Ruffles
This spring ruffles will be everywhere. Purses, shoes, belts, shirts and even dresses will feature layers upon layers of ruffles. This feminine look will be seen mostly in two forms. Some ruffles will be small and delicate, while other objects will be covered in ruffles. People who adore this look are in luck because many clothing lines have jumped on this ruffle bandwagon.
Plaid
Plaid is another one of those trends that has been around for quite sometime. Becoming popular in the 40’s, plaid is a look that a lot of people love. Aeropostale, Victoria’s Secret, and Hollister are just a few of the many popular stores that have added plaid clothing to their spring lines.
Accessories Galore
According to Vogue Magazine, an outfit is never complete without accessories. From small necklaces to large over-sized rings, accessories are more than necessary this spring season. Because some trends are the same as last year, such as the “boyfriend look,” adding an arm full of bracelets or bulky earrings can help anyone go from fail to fab in seconds.
Honestly, none of these trends are new. Designers are simply traveling back in time, borrowing ideas from the past, and modernizing them. Maybe Karl Marx was right: History does repeat itself, even in the fashion world.
