Science teacher Lorraine Griffin was awarded the title of Mid-South Teacher of the Week by Channel 3 News. According to her students, she was nominated for her ability to make a difficult subject easy and for the close bond she shares with her students.
Channel 3 reporter Tim Simpson and a camera crew surprised Griffin and her sixth-period class to acknowledge her accomplishment. While Griffin was completely unaware, the rest of the science department had hung a banner outside her classroom and prepared a soft drink and cookie party for her and her class to enjoy. The obvious admiration for this teacher has earned her this recognition.
