Forensics club members Toshya Leonard, Linda Johnson, AJ Byrd, and Josh Ferrell will perform in a state-wide competition in Maryville, TN on April 17-18.

Under the supervision of English teacher and club sponsor Virginia Hall, these students will compete in categories such as Solo Acting, Congress, and Storytelling.

In the Solo Acting category, Leonard will perform a speech about a woman who blames her life struggles on God. And Johnson will perform a speech about a woman whose son has been killed during war. The woman is offered an award on her son’s behalf; however, she rejects it.

Participating in the Congress category, Byrd will present a “bill” which states that teachers should not be held liable for issuing corporal punishment in a just and fair manner.

Ferrell will perform a humorous monologue by Bill Cosby entitled “A Trip to the Dentist,” in the Storytelling category.
