Reverse play gives Panthers overtime victory
After losing to Houston for the past 7 years, the win felt great. “To step up and win games that historically we have been losing is a good feeling,” Head Coach Brian Brewer said. “It felt like heaven,” Junior lineman/fullback Tojoe Cason added.
Overall, the whole team is starting to improve tremendously. “We’re starting to be more effective with what we have as a team. Our game plan worked perfectly, and it got us the win,” Brewer said. With the game-winning reverse play in overtime by Damecio Ewing, junior wide receiver, the Panthers have upped to 2-2 overall. and take on the Arlington Tigers, who are 3-1, Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Getting that first district win is this week’s main goal, and the team knows not to underestimate the Tigers who have racked up 3 in a row, including one against a very good White Station team. Byron Gardner, junior cornerback, said he is “kinda nervous but confident.” In the past two weeks, Arlington has scored 92 points and only allowed 13, but Bartlett’s defense just gets better.
