How would you feel if your mother were marrying a complete stranger whom you knew absolutely nothing about? What happens when this stranger becomes dangerous? He wants a perfect family, but yours is not it; so you all must suffer the consequences.
“The Stepfather” begins when Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school to find out his mother, Susan Harding (Sela Ward), has a boyfriend (Dylan Walsh), named David, who now lives with them. He soon becomes suspicious of the new man in their lives, as does the old woman across the street.
Strange events continue to take place and nothing will stop Michael from getting to the bottom of it. David forgets what family he is with and thinks they are one of his past victims, threatens the children, and acts extremely weird. No one can ignore his behavior and it soon becomes evident that something is not right about this man.
“The Stepfather” makes me want to do a thorough background check on any man that my mom ever dates. I honestly did not think this movie would be all that scary, but it really did a number on me.
“The Stepfather” is a good movie, but if your mother recently got married and you do not know much about the guy, then you may want to stay away from this film until you have really gotten to know him, especially if you tend to be a little paranoid.
